Ardmore Vision 2025

In 2009, the entire community of Ardmore convened to dream, discuss and explore the possibilities for our community in 2020. Great opportunities were identified during this process and prioritized in eight areas. Over the past decade, many initiatives identified during this process have been completed. A few of the highlights include: the construction of a state of the art cancer treatment center, a new YMCA, the City expenditures of over $3.5 million per year for infrastructure improvements, the construction of a new University Center Campus, and the creation of new events at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum such as the Arbuckle Mountain Futurity. Quality of Life initiatives were also launched, including: the completion of phase I of the Main Street streetscape project, the current construction of the Family Fun Park – The Clubhouse and the development of other entertainment options (movie theater & Urban Air). Additional advances have also been made in the areas of Health and Education.

It is now time to evaluate our success and revisit those priorities identified 10 years ago, and to determine which initiatives are most important to the community and all Southern Oklahoma. This community effort is coordinated in partnership between the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce and the City of Ardmore and all community members are not only invited but encouraged to attend.

The Community Visioning Process will consist of three community sessions. The initial session will allow those present to review the Ardmore 2020 Initiative, consider its progress and determine whether the “original” vision has been accomplished, needs to be amended or is no longer relevant. The second session will begin to refine those ideas and create “concrete” goals in each category. Finally, specific action items and a timeline will be established. Following the completion of the third session, a steering committee will review all the information and produce a report to the community. This report will set forth the priority items, timeline and action steps to achieve success.

Please join us for our three sessions on October 1st, 15th and 29th at the Chickasaw Community Center on 907 Locust Street in Ardmore. The events will begin at 6:00 pm with a light meal, followed by the development and planning session. All sessions will be completed by 8:00 pm.

The process is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend and participate. It is important that all sectors of our community participate and ensure that their voices are heard.
