Money spent local, stays local! There are an estimated 27 million small businesses in the United States and statistics reflect that 99% of all employer firms are small business. In addition to the workforce numbers, $.67 cents of each dollar spent at independent, locally owned businesses stay in our community, supporting local organizations and services. That’s why shopping local is very important to the Chamber, with our mission being to assist local businesses. When local businesses thrive, the community thrives.
The Ardmore Chamber of Commerce has announced the dates for this year’s “Dash for Santa Cash”. The event will be held for five days: Thursday, December 13, 2018 through Monday, December 17, 2018. Participating merchants provide tickets to their customers for visiting their stores, and then additional tickets based on the dollars spent in the store.
Jill Beane is the owner of Beane’s Western Wear and a participant in Dash for Santa Cash. “Anything we can do to promote shopping local rather than online is so helpful for Ardmore and its economy,” said Jill. “It’s especially important for the smaller businesses who have so much to offer! It’s great to have an event like this that draws shoppers into the store, especially people who may not be regular or previous customers and gives them a chance to see what all we carry.”
Dunn & Co. is one of the newest additions to Ardmore’s Downtown Depot District. They sell farmhouse and rustic gift ideas, custom wooden signs and concealment cabinets, as well as gift certificates and gift registries. “This will be our first opportunity to participate in the Chamber’s Dash for Cash,” said owner Cheri Dunn. “We are looking forward to meeting and visiting with all our customers when they stop by to shop for those perfect Christmas gifts.”
The mission of the promotion is to highlight the importance of shopping local and reminding people how important it is to support our small merchants. “Small stores make Ardmore authentic, and we don’t want to lose that authenticity,” said Maria Wilkinson, owner of Maria’s Garden. “We love being a part of this promotion – it adds to the fun and excitement of holiday shopping, and nothing is more fun than seeing old friends and making new ones! Support Ardmore and keep small businesses thriving.”
$2,500 in Santa Cash will be awarded during the promotion. The winners will be announced at the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 3:00 pm. Santa Cash can only be used at any of the participating “Dash for Santa Cash” merchants. “The Dash for Santa Cash retail promotion is one of the most popular Chamber activities of the year. Santa Cash can only be used at the participating merchants, benefiting merchants both during and after the promotion,” states Mita Bates, President and CEO of the Ardmore Chamber.
