Ardmore Staycation - Highlight on Parks
Spring is right around the corner and many of us are itching to get outside and soak up some sun. Here in the quiet town of Ardmore, many of the first places people think to go are Regional Park, Central Park, and Lake Murray. While these are great options, did you know Ardmore has 10 different parks with many different attractions and activities?
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States. A paddleball sport that combines elements of badminton, table tennis, and tennis, pickleball is a fun sport for people of all ages to enjoy. To keep up with the growing interest in this sport, there are three city parks with pickleball courts! Whittington Park and Walker Park both have courts that are ready to go. Regional Park has courts that are under construction and are expected to be completed by May 2021. For more information on pickleball check out “Ardmore Pickleball Club” on Facebook.
Another sport taking Ardmore by storm is disc golf. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro, Ardmore has a course that is fitting for you! Broadlawn Park has a beautiful 18-hole course that is perfect for beginner and intermediate players. Its open concept makes learning the sport a breeze. Looking for a little more challenge? Head on over to Regional Park. The 18-hole course is a beautiful mixture of wooded and open with challenging elevation changes.
Warmer weather is right around the corner and you may be looking for a place to let the kids cool off! There are five parks that have wonderful splashpads: Broadlawn Park, Central Park, Douglas Park, Southwest Park, and Whittington Park. These wonderfully wacky water features give your kiddos a chance to cool off and burn some energy at the same time! The splashpads will open on May 1! Looking for a little more water fun? The Ardmore Community Water Park has a wading pool, lazy river, slides, diving boards and more. There are things for kids and adults to enjoy.
Looking for the classic park experience? Slides, swings, and jungle gym type equipment can be found at 9 of the city parks! Regional park even has exercise equipment scattered along their walking trails. Get your cardio and weightlifting in while enjoying the great outdoors. Other great amenities available at Ardmore City parks are basketball courts, walking and biking trails, pavilions, grills, and restroom facilities.
