City of Ardmore

Ardmore is a community of approximately 35,185 people, and is the center of business and trade for Southern Oklahoma. Surrounding towns and rural homes bring the total population of Carter County including Ardmore to 48,557.

Housing

One of Ardmore's attractions is the beautiful homes in a variety of settings, including large lots and acreages, numerous subdivisions and attractive neighborhoods. With diversity in architecture, lifestyle, setting and cost, Ardmore offers housing that will suit all needs. From classic, long-standing homes on tree-lined streets to modern developments, Ardmore's options include a variety from luxury, custom homes to traditional single family homes and apartments. In 2004, the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and the Ardmore Development Authority commissioned a Housing Demand Study that indicated a need in the affordable housing area within the community. As a result, the Chamber and Development Authority have undertaken an aggressive initiative in conjunction with community leaders to meet this need. The Hickory Ridge subdivision, located in Western Ardmore has been built, as the result of a partnership between the ADA, Ardmore Chamber of Commerce and private developers.  The subdivision provides affordable housing for $82.50 per square foot.  Approximately 100 homes have been sold in the first two years of the subdivison.

Civic

The key to any successful community is its people and their willingness to volunteer time and energy to the betterment of their community. Ardmore is home to more than 112 civic organizations, providing ample opportunity to serve the community in a variety of capacities.

When you look around this community, it is quite evident civic life plays a vital role in Ardmore's success. The Ardmore Community Water Park, the heliport at Mercy Memorial Health Center and the addition at Central Park are all projects completed by local civic organizations. Events such as golf tournaments, tennis tournaments, hamburger cookouts and pancake meals are annual events which raise money to aid the continuing improvement efforts of our community.

Ardmore continues to prosper and grow thanks to the countless volunteer hours contributed by its citizens each year. Our children benefit from projects such as a bicycle safety program. Our senior citizens benefit from programs that bring meals into their homes and smiles to their faces. No matter what age a person might be, chances are, there is a civic club working hard to provide them with the resources they need.

These projects are only a small glance of what happens in Ardmore when its citizens become involved. And with so many organizations and activities, all contributing to a better quality of life, it is no surprise that Ardmore has twice been named an All-American City!

Senior Living

Ardmore is an exceptional home for seniors. Those who have always been with us and those who have made the decision to retire here have done so because of the pleasant and secure hometown atmosphere. Ardmore has been a leader in establishing a wonderful assortment of facilities and programs to serve our seniors.

The Ardmore Village is a beautiful retirement housing development offering seniors more than a home. It is a retirement community offering life with dignity, independence, productivity and meaning. Adult Day Services is a beneficial service started in 1999, offering daytime care for seniors who need additional support.

Our excellent healthcare facilities give seniors the security and peace-of-mind they so richly deserve during their twilight years. The abundance of volunteer and civic organizations gives them the chance to lend their wisdom and expertise to the community.
