United States Chamber of Commerce Accredited

State of Education Forum

01/13/2019

Education isn’t just important to students and their parents – a solid education system is crucial for the community, state and wellbeing of society. A strong education is necessary to prepare people for good jobs and bright futures and sustaining a modern workforce that can compete in today’s economy.

The Chamber pursues ways to assist our local education system ensuring students emerge from our public education system prepared for college or a career. It supports making higher education more accessible and helping employers find workers with the right skills and qualifications; and building a workforce to attract investment and drive growth.

In that spirit, the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce will host a State of Education Forum on Monday, January 28, 2019 at the Ardmore Convention Center from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. The forum will feature both state and local representatives to present an update on education in Oklahoma.

Our featured guests will include Superintendents and representatives from our local schools, including Ardmore City Schools, Dickson, Lone Grove, Oak Hall, Plainview, Springer, Southern Tech and University Center of Southern Oklahoma. The event included a keynote presentation by the State Department of Education to be provided by Matt Holder, Deputy Superintendent of Finance and Federal Programs. Mr. Holder has local ties to the area, having previously been the Superintendent of Springer Schools.

The forum is open to Chamber members, and the cost is $20.00 per seat or a table sponsorship for $250. Lunch will be served beginning at 11:00 am with the presentation scheduled to begin shortly thereafter.  Reservations are required no later than Wednesday, January 23 at 12:00 pm. To reserve a seat, contact the Chamber at 580-223-7765 or sjohnson@ardmore.org.
