Informed citizens are those who engage in our democratic process by educating themselves on the candidates and issues, participating in dialogue and most importantly – casting their ballot!

A record number of candidates have filed for elected positions in Oklahoma.  It is almost a daunting task to “wade through” the numerous individual who have filed for office at both the state and local level.  The Ardmore Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Ardmore Young Professionals are again providing valuable information prior to the Primary Election on June 26, 2018.  A Candidate Forum is scheduled for Thursday, June 14, 2018, 6:00 pm, at The Charles B. Goddard Center for the Performing Arts.

The focus of this forum is to provide information on those candidates running for office from Southern Oklahoma.  All candidates have been invited to participate, as well as representatives for both the support and opposition of State Question 788 Medical Marijuana Legalization.

The format of the forum will allow the candidates, by party affiliation, to provide a brief statement and answer a series of questions devised by a non-partisan committee and make a closing remark.  Following the candidate portion of the event, representatives in support and opposition of SQ 788 will have an opportunity to make brief remarks and answer questions from the committee.

Candidates scheduled to participate in the forum include:

         State Senate District 14

Republicans:  Frank Simpson (Incumbent) and Joe Caudle

State House of Representatives District 48

Democrats:  Jordan Buck and Cheryl Key

Republicans:  Jason May and Tammy Townley
