2018 Turkey Hunt – In the Bag!!

04/29/2018

The 2018 Oklahoma Lt. Governor’s Turkey Hunt hosted by the Ardmore Development Authority is “In the Bag”!

This year’s event hosted twelve individuals from seven businesses and organizations, including guests from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston, Texas.  The guests were welcomed at the Oklahoma History Center by State Officials and traveled to Ardmore where local volunteer businessmen/guides greeted the guests and familiarized them with the Hunt.  Wednesday evening, they had an opportunity to socialize with the guides and make arrangements for hunting on Thursday.

Thursday morning, the guides and their guests hunted on seven properties in Southern Oklahoma.  Following a morning of hunting, our guests and guides were treated to a barbeque lunch hosted by local banks and Valero.  Thursday afternoon, additional opportunities were provided to see the community, skeet shoot and golf.  The Taiwanese delegation toured the community, the Noble Research Institute and engaged in conversations concerning opportunities in our area.  A Community Dinner including area elected officials and a visit from Lt. Governor Lamb completed the day.  The highlight of the dinner is the sharing of experiences by the hunters and guides.  All stories were chronicled and will be sent in digital format to all attendees.  The top hunter, guide and property owner were recognized and awarded a commemorative gun.

Friday morning, those that wanted to hunt were met by their guides, and two additional turkeys were shot.  A mid-morning brunch concluded the activities.  All present at the Friday brunch indicated that they were impressed with Ardmore and wanted to pursue opportunities to invest in the area, either with new business or expansion of existing business.  The relationships established over the three days will provide the foundation to develop relationships.

The Ardmore experience for all the guests was exceptional.  Partners throughout the community joined together to make this a memorable and valuable experience for all.  Area banks:  American Nation, BancFirst, Citizens, First National, Landmark Bank and First Bank and Trust joined forces with Valero to treat the hunters and guides.  Additional partners – Jerrys Gun Shop, Jones Southern Oklahoma Quail-Pheasant Hunts, OG&E and The Bramlett Agency provided additional resources for the event.

Thank you, Ardmore, for the support that allowed us to showcase the city and all Southern Oklahoma.
